Five Element acupuncture

Five element acupuncture is a complete system of medicine based on the natural laws that govern all beings and matter in the universe. It is a spiritual tradition that addresses the needs of people at the level of body, mind and spirit.

Five Element Acupuncture sees ill-health and dis-ease as an imbalance of yin and yang, the two primary sources of our existence. Any symptoms/s person may experience demonstrates that the person has lost balance but the problem does not indicate the cause. The goal of acupuncturist is to find the true cause of the imbalance in the patient.

Five Element acupuncturists uses their senses to make a diagnosis. in the treatment we use moxa (fine Chinese herb) that is burnt to warm the acupuncture points, and needles to stimulate or sedate the energy accessible in the meridian pathways. This adjustment can harmonise the the flow of energy in the patient.

Five Element Acupuncture originated in China over 2000 years ago, and it has been passed down from Master to Student both through study of texts and oral teaching. An unbroken lineage has maintained the transmission of an astounding body of knowledge of health, illness and the human condition.

Throughout the ages individual masters of acupuncture have developed their own style of treatment, incorporating new ideas over time. Five Element Acupuncture, which is largely built on this oral tradition, eventually forged its path to Europe through key pioneers such as Jacques Lavier and Professor J.R> Worsley, the British founder.

Perhaps most important of all. when understanding the very heart and foundation of Five Element Acupuncture, is the fundamental belief that many physical problems expressed and experienced by patients today are the product of emotional and spiritual distress as much as any physical cause. Therefore, the aim of the treatment is to isolate the cause of the complaint, to support and correct the cause, and within that process for each individual to discover a greater sense of Self. This helps the person to feel at home in their own skin and gives tools for life in order to implement any necessary changes, and to live life as fully as consciously possible.
